Summary:

• Technical Writer’s role is to act as the final voice and approval on the quality of localized GUI and Software related documentation (manuals, release notes, quick reference cards, etc.). The primary focus of the job will encompass SW glossary review and approval during project preparation, software GUI review and approval both in and out of context and documentation review and/or spot check. In order to do this job effectively, the individual will receive product training as necessary and also must have access to in-country technical resources knowledgeable in the products.
• Additionally, the Technical Writer will work closely with the GPO project manager on scheduling and overall project planning. 

• Specify linguistic guidelines, expectations and quality standards at project outset
• Review & Approve Glossary (note: will likely require interaction both with vendors and with internal EMC product experts.)
• Act as the first point of contact for any linguistic query resolution with localization vendors
• Following the test scripts created specifically for linguistic testing, ensure that the translations are contextually appropriate and accurate in the running application
• Identify and report linguistic issues, inconsistencies and any bugs, issues and defects found in the localized application
• Coordinate communication, from a linguistic perspective, between the product team, vendors and EMC internal product experts
• Maintain a knowledgebase for each individual initiative
• Monitor vendor performance, provide feedback on quality and final deliverables and ensure there are procedures and processes for continuous improvement
• Identify the local needs for translated materials and their quality and style expectations (requires interaction with the Marketing department, the Sales, Legal, HR and CS teams)
• Work closely with the Marketing department to provide relevant and useful campaign material in Russian
• Identify the subject matter experts who can help us improve our quality (technical, sales, marketing,…)

  Qualifications:

• Degree in translation, testing or related field and/or professional linguistic QA experience
• Strong communication skills in written and spoken English
• Ability to work well with others in a multi-cultural environment in different time zones
• Sense of urgency, prioritization of tasks and accountability
